Description and
type: a reach this leave Portinatx along the asphalted road, continuing as
far as a awer-off ona an unsurfaced road. It is well sign posted. Also
reached from San Juan taking an asphalted road which leads from the north side
of the village.
Means of
transport: By private car or by bicycle, for the latter some expertise is
necessary because of the steep gradients which make up the final part of the
journey.
Distance: 28
kilometres from Ibiza, 5 kilometres from San Juan.
Description: This
is a deep coastal inlet at whose far end is found a strip of sand, bordered on
each side by steep cliffs.
Length: 50 metres. · Width: 30 metres.
Composition: Of medium-grained natural sand, with sections of rounded boulders
and rocks.
Sea botam: Mainly of sane and rock, covered with underwater vegetation, with
sandy sections in between. The gradient is fairly gentle, with the water not
reaching 2 metres in depth until 20 metres from the shore.
Direction, prevailing winds: Its north-eastern aspect ensures that the winds
are from the sea a the land, although its shape as an enclosed inlet screens
out the stronger ones.
Panoramic aspects: This is an area whose surroundings are amongst the island's
wildest and most unauched, with the presence of impressive cliffs covered
with coniferous greenery.
SUMMARY COMMENT: The beauty of its surroundings and its relative distance from
the municipality's main roads make this a peaceful place, providing good
opportunities for rest, and swimming, with the possibility of snorkelling in
waters which are rich in marine flora and fauna.
Other points of interest in the municipality of San Juan are Port de ses
Caletes, Es Canaret, Es Calo de s'Illa and Es Portixol. All these are either
small rocky coves or areas among rocks with access a the sea. |
