Description and
type: By asphalted road in the direction of the Airport, and just after San
Jordi take a side-road on the left which leads in the direction of the Canal,
where this beach is located.
Means of
transport: By private car. By bicycle is not too taxing and there is a
bicycle-lane specially marked. There is a regular bus service.

kilometres from Ibiza, 26 from San José.
Description: A
long open beach with extensive vegetation of conifers typical of the island.
Length: 1.5 kilometres · Width: 25-30 metres
Composition: The entire beach is composed of very fine white sand of natural
origin. On the eastern flank there are rocky corners with inlets and natural
swimming pools.
Sea bottom: Sandy sea floor along the entire length of the beach, with a very
gentle gradient. At 25 metres out from the shore the depth reaches 0.65 metres
and at 50 metres out it is 1.65 metres. On the far eastern side areas of rock
alternate with sand.
Direction, prevailing winds: The beach's southerly orientation ensures that
the wind blows from the sea to the land. always gentle or moderate.
Panoramic aspects: It is located close to the Salinas salt-lagoons. with their
recognised scenic interest and colonies of wild sea birds. The panorama from
the beach itself is very beautiful, as one can contemplate the outstanding
views over to the los Freus islets and the island of Formentera.
SUMMARY COMMENT: An area with a panorama of various interests, outstanding
among which are the games sports on offer together with the usual services.
The beach's characteristics make it very safe as far as bathing is concerned,
and ideal for beginners in sailing. |
