Description and
type: From San Antonio, take the Port d'es Torrent road and follow the signs;
alternatively take the left-hand side-road which leads from the village of San
Agustin and follow the relevant signs.
Means of
transport: By private car or by bicycle. There is a regular bus service during
the summer season.
Distance: 24
kilometres from Ibiza, 13 kilometres from San Jose.
Description: A
long low extension of the coast which contains a group of small beaches of
very fine sand interspersed with rocky inlets very suitable for swimming.
Length: The whole area offers some 800 metres of coastline with numerous
bathing possibilities. Width: This ranges from 15 to 30 metres.
Composition: Areas of very fine, dark-brown natural sand, together with raised
areas of rock very suitable for bathing or stretching out to take the sun.
Sea bottom: Shallow sandy areas are combined with sectors of rocks or loose
stones, of great interest for snorkellers. On the whole the area is fairly
shallow, only the rocky places providing greater depths. For the rest, at 25
metres from the shore the water is only half a metre deep and at 50 metres out
one metre.
Direction, prevailing winds: Winds are usually light and occasionally from the
land or transversal.
Panoramic aspects: The area has very fine scenery and considerable charm, the
sandy shallows combining with rocky sections and its clear clean water giving
the sea floor a turquoise colouration. From the beach an enchanting view over
to the western islets can be had.
SUMMARY COMMENT: This is one of the island's most beautiful beaches, with
panoramic qualities which make it a must for all visitors. The variety of its
aspects offer all sorts of possibilities - sunbathing, safe bathing,
underwater exploration and walks in the surrounding countryside. |
